The Methodist Church in Copmanthorpe is a part of the York (South) Circuit of the Methodist Church.

Our aim is to learn how to enrich and sustain life with Christian love.  God has challenged us to give and receive from Him and each other in worship, prayer, study and supportive friendship within the church; and to serve Him through people within and beyond it.

"Beyond our church family" we aim to:
  • Serve our local community
  • Work with children and young people
  • Be understanding and provide support
  • Contribute to a sustainable world
  • Increase awareness of God’s presence and make more followers of Jesus Christ
This means that “within” the church family we aim to:
The Church Council together with the minister has responsibility for the coordination of the ministry of the church.  Its members are the managing trustees of the church premises.  A General Church Meeting is held annually to which all members of the congregation are invited.  This meeting may discuss any concerns about the life of the church and may make recommendations to the Church Council.
The Church Stewards assist the minister in the leadership of the church and provide a link between minister and congregation.  They also play an important part in the organisation of the Sunday worship.
