FairTrade
Fair
Trade is strongly supported by the 'church'. In
other words, the
people! We became a Fairtrade church in May 2005,
the 1000th
fairtrade church in the country. The criteria for
being a
Fairtrade church are:
1. To use Fairtrade
tea and coffee
at all meetings for which the church is responsible.
2. To move forward by
using other
Fairtrade goods, such as sugar and biscuits.
3. To promote
Fairtrade and hold an event in Fairtrade
fortnight.
We
hold
a monthly stall of Fairtrade goods.

This is held at 11:30 (after the morning
service) usually on the
second Sunday
of the month, but it is normally
advertised in the church notices
and village
newsletters.
The
stall is open for anyone to buy the large range of
Fairtrade products
and help the growers, people such as the coffee farmer
featured below.

Fairtrade
guarantees
growers
and
producers
in
third
world
countries
a
fair price for their goods. It
also pays a premium which is usually used for a
community project such
as a school or building a road or a well.
