Raising
[UPDATE - February
2011]
A fund raising
committee
has been formed. If you would like
to join the committee please speak to a church steward, email the building fund
group or contact our
minister. The committee’s task is
to encourage
fund raising and to organise grant applications to Methodist Central
Funds and
other Charitable Trusts.
The
building work has been completed, but the events continue.
Before the
building work could commence we hosted a Murder Mystery evening
on 29 and 30 January 2010,
which was a massive community success and also raised over
£1,000. It was so successful (from a community event [social]
point of view) that another Murder Mystery event took place in January
2011 and raised about the same amount.
The Beading Day raised over £380.00. The funds raised at our Open
Gardens and Craft event over the weekend of June 19 & 20 were in
excess of £1000.00.
However the
local community benefits from these types of event which can not be
counted
in £ and p.
In August 2010 the
building work started and was completed, despite the harsh winter
weather in early January 2011.
Fund raising
activities continue. Plans are afoot to hold the following events:
- Carnival Day 2011.
- An Auction of promises (to be
held on Friday 21 May 2011 in the WI Hall - Admission by catalogue
£2.00)
- A sponsored 'kids' walk and picnic
- A late autumn fund raising event
(yet to be announced) boosted by
serving lunches.
- Another of our much loved Murder
Mystery events performances of which take place for at least 2 evenings
in January/February 2012 (final dates to be announced).

The church
notices
and notice
board
will
have
details
of other
fund
raising
ideas
that members may like to organise. If you have any
ideas for fund raising please let
us know so we can advertise them.
The
estimated cost of
the extension scheme is £220k, and we needed at least half the
funds 'in the bank' before we could start building..
Please
continue to pray
about this exciting
project and think about how you might be able to play a part as it is
only with
the support of the whole church that we shall be able to achieve its
successful
completion.
Thank
you for your
support so far.
